Most people desire to own a website of their own but the cost of design and hosting has hindered them. Blogs are free and can be used to showcase one’s activities. Some sites offer free blogs but the most common of them is www.blogger.com .
Advantages of blogs.
1. You can upload information about yourself, your business, products and services that you offer e.t.c
2. You can publish your articles and news on your blog.
3. You can upload videos, audio and pictures.
4. You can set-up opinion poll about any issue.
5. You can use Google Adsense to place adverts on your blog which will earn you money as
6. People visit your blog and click on the adverts.
There are many more benefits of blogs which time and space won’t allow me to state here. As you start blogging, you will know them.
How to create a Blog.
Before you create your blog (free website), you need to open a Gmail account i.e Google mail account. Let’s look at how this can be achieved briefly.
Opening a Gmail Account.
STEPS
Log on to www.google.com
1. On the top of the site, click Mail
2. On the sign in page, locate sign up and click it.
3. Fill the e-mail account form and submit.

After opening the Gmail account, log on to www.blogger.com ,to create your blog.
STEPS
1. Enter your Gmail ID and password on the top right-hand corner of www.blogger.com and click sign in.
2. Click create blog,
3. You will see your e-mail ,name and display name.
4. Type the name of the blog you want to create e.g www.o-onekonceptz.blogspot.com
5. Type the title of your blog, then slick continue.
6. Choose a template i.e from the models of blogs available; choose the one you desire by clicking it.
7. Click continue
8. Then click start blogging.
Dashboard
Anytime you want to post any information, edit or modify the settings and layout of your site, the dashboard enables you. It is your personal access to your blog. To go to your blog, log onto www.blogger.com and sign in by typing your Gmail ID and password.
To publish any article, advert or information, click New Post on your dashboard. Type in the title of the information and the information. If you finish, click Publish Post. Remember to always click sign out anytime you finish so that nobody will intrude into your blog.
Making money from blogs
You can make money money from blogs by signing up to;
1. Google Adsense(i.e www.google.com/adsense). It is free and takes up to two days for approval. You will be notified through your box.
2. Affiliate programmes: join various affiliate programmes available e.g commission junction.
3. Sell advert space
4. Pay to post.
5. Donations.
NOTE:
To make money from your blog, you need to promote your blog very well so as to increase traffic to it. You can promote it through networks like www.facebook.com , www.hi5.com , newspapers, word of mouth and forums like www.nairaland.com and www.naijahotjobs.com
