Carryovers are a common feature when results are released. The students that unfortunately have to sit for these courses again, may have failed them through sheer laziness, some costly mistakes during the exam or due to other factors.
The probability that a carryover course will be passed at the first attempt depends on the mindset and actions of the student. Some
students exhibit the wrong attitude by feeling too big to attend lectures for the carryover courses just because they don’t want the lower students to know they are sitting for the course again or because they feel degraded mixing with them. Doing this, they some times, miss assignments, tests, attendance and useful tips.
They fail to understand that passing a carryover course is more difficult than passing the course at first attempt. This makes it expedient to be more focused and committed in the second attempt.

i. Overcoming Pride: Like the Bible says “Pride goeth before a fall”. This implies that students are to discard all traits of pride that inhibits them from attending lectures of lower level courses. This is not forgetting the fact that there may be clashes in time-table.
ii. Getting the Right Information: When they attend lectures, they will definitely know when an assignment is given or when a test will hold.
iii. Solving all Assignments: this is a major decider as some lecturers attach premium to assignments if they don’t have time to administer tests.
iv. Doing well in Tests: Any test sat for shouldn’t be taken for granted as this lays a foundation for the cross over.
v. Revision with Lower Level Students: during revision for exams, we should interact with the present students to know if they were given some tips that could boost their chances.
vi. Prayer: this factor insures all others as there is nothing done without God that succeeds.
